I graduated high school from Mt. Vernon, Arkansas. A very smal rural area, very similar to Atkins! I started my college career at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway and finished up at University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Many, many years later I was fortunate to complete my Masters in Education at Arizona State University in Phoenix, AZ.
I currently have a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and a Masters in Elementary Education from Arizona State University.
Additionally, I hold a teaching certificate from Arkansas for K-8, teaching all subject areas. I am highly qualified to teach middle school social studies and SEI.
I got married in 1989 to my high school sweetheart. We have been married for 28 years and have three boys, ages 24, 19 and 16 years old. My youngest attends Pottsville High School and is a junior this year. My 19 year old is starting his college career at Arkansas Tech University and my oldest is working and going to school. We recently bought 42 acres outside of Atkins and have two dogs, two cats, two goats, three cows and one guard donkey! There is never a dull moment around our house!
After staying at home with my three boys for thirteen years, I went back to college and got my Masters in Education and began my teaching career at Verrado Middle School, in Buckeye, AZ. While in Arizona, I taught 7th grade social studies for four years before moving back to Arkansas to be near family. Since I have been back in Arkansas, I have been subbing at the local schools and started working here at Atkins, teaching 6th grade science in 2017.
